Music for a cold afternoon

I heard a snippet of this on the radio a couple of days ago and it has been buzzing round my head ever since.

Thankyou for that!

We knew the first and last verses and refrain as the introduction music to a TV serial drama of the same name;

Nice to hear the whole rendering with the historic film footage. They bred 'em hard and tough back then!

I remember the series, 1976, gosh I'd forgotten it was so long ago. As an outgoing 21 year-old I didn't watch much TV in those days so I only caught an odd episode. Great drama though and class music for the titles.

So, were are of an age then? (Me 1954). I didn't watch it originally, was introduced to it by Hazel my second wife and we now watch it twice a year off DVD.

We are of an age then Dave, October 1955 for me. You with 'Boat' sounds like me with 'I, Claudius'. I can watch that anytime.

Well well. Claudius is another of our regular repeats from stored DVD. Also Miss Marple, Northern Exposure, Poirot...

Inspector Morse?

Haven't invested yet, but have the music CD. Perhaps next purchase?

Another thought Dave, do you or your good lady remember Cadfael? There were some cracking stories and more great acting by Derek Jacobi.

Hazel had read all the books by the time we first met and was very putoff by the interpretation given in the teleseries. However, a few years ago we did watch a few episodes and she was less critical or more sozzled with gin and enjoyed!
