A thought for a Sunday

"It is the eye of ignorance that assigns a fixed and unchangeable color to every object; beware of this stumbling block".

Paul Gauguin (1848 – 1903)

  1. PG was probably right, but ain't life much easier if he was wrong?

  2. No!

Art would be much less interesting if it was only based on snap-shot photographic realism.

Painting your hallway may be easier though.

  3. I'm reminded here of the old question - if a tree falls in the forest and there is no one around to hear it does it make a sound?

When I look at a leaf I 'see' a green object, but what does a 'colour blind' person see?

Does the colour reside in the object?

Or is it the brains interpretation of the signals it receives from the eyes ?

    Which is 'reality' ?

  4. Reality is that which, even if you don't believe in it, is still there.

    Hope that helps Duncan!
